Bigger,better,stronger,freakier,spammier than ever

In the past two days, I have had 20 separate emails sent to me that made startling assumptions about me. These 20 emails insinuated that I
1. Had some sort of sexual deficiency that can be miraculously cured by...well whatever, I didn't read that far.
2. Had somehow lost my ovaries and gained another piece or two of anatomy, which needed assistance of some sort.
3. Had a need for a long long long list of drugs at really cheap cheap cheap prices.
4. Had a desire to watch and/or participate in somewhat shocking activities.
5. Had better refinance my home using under-the-table financing practices sure to either put me further in debt or in the slammer.

I have a junk mail folder. I have filters. What exactly constitutes junk? Someone should explain it to me, because I do not understand the concept. The aforementioned 20 emails apparently did not fit the junk description. Because they made their home among my legitimate inbox mail. My mother's mail should not have to sit alongside this garbage. I should not even have to look at it.

But there it sits. Every time I log in, -ping- it's multiplied. What to do??!
Perhaps I should stop complaining. Someday, when I least expect it, I'll have a sudden urge to pop some pills, enlarge a body part and take out a second mortgage.

Maybe not in that exact order.

I think the technological world is suffering a spam plague as of late. The same thing has been happening to me...well, somewhat. I have a junk mail folder, too, and when some of these emails sneak their way into my main inbox, you can mark it as junk and if you get any more from that sender, it will forward it to your junk folder. But the strange thing I've been experiencing lately is that my junk folder - every time I log on - has 30some pieces in it!! Normally, it has maybe 3 or 4. But now it's in the double digits every day. It's absolutely ridiculous. Blasted spammers.

So, I Changed My Mind

More than four years ago, the blog and I parted ways. I needed a change. A whole lot happened in my world since then. I switched jobs a couple times. My kid went from an elementary school tween to a teenage high schooler. We built a new house and moved. Both my parents and my sister have passed. The world around me changed as well. Mass shootings, racism, the #metoo movement, a misogynistic bigoted narcissist in the White House ... go ahead, add to the list. Toss your woes into this dumpster fire we call 2019.  I appreciate my previous sentiment, that I was no longer wandering. But let's be honest, we're all trying to find our way through this mess. I decided to reboot the blog to give myself a creative outlet, a way to sort through the confusion and frustration and attempt to make sense of it all. I have a voice, and I'm not keen to silence it anymore. Guess what? I'm back, bitches.

In memoriam...

I remember the first time I heard the name "Les Anderson." A bunch of Wichita State University communication majors were sitting around on campus, talking about classes they planned to take. Several people warned me: watch out for Les Anderson. He was tough. He had a murderous grading scale. It was nearly impossible to get an A. They weren't kidding. But he wasn't tough just to be a tyrant. From his teaching sprang a fleet of incredible, successful journalists, writers, editors, broadcasters, public relations experts, advertisers, non-profit professionals...I could go on and on. Most importantly, he created a legion of people who wanted to make a difference in the world. The greatest gift Les gave to them all? He believed in them, cared about them for their own personal stories as well as the stories they told for class assignments or in the pages of his hometown newspaper. Les was my teacher. My boss. My mentor. My conscience. My champion. My friend. When I started c...
