I know Hillary, I love Hillary. Lady, you're no Hillary.

McCain's choice for his Veep is a ploy to snatch away women voters who had been supporting Hillary. At least, that's what the pundits are saying. But I say if that's the case, it's extremely insulting to women. How dare they think that I'm going to blindly follow anyone simply because she's a SHE. This particular SHE is, from what little I've been able to scrape up on her, anti-environment, anti-choice, anti-gay-rights, knows nothing about foreign policy, has a husband who works for an oil company, looks like she could be McCain's granddaughter, annoyingly reminds me of SNL's Tina Fey and, truth be told, her ability to pick quality names for her children has been called into question.

A friend pointed out that this stoutly conservative 44-year-old Alaska governor's five children are named Track, Bristol, Willow, Piper and Trig.

My husband then quipped:
Her kids' names sound like a dog sled team.

She's also has a very poor track record when it comes to supporting endangered wildlife. I look forward to her disappearing back to Alaska when her & McCain lose in a few months.

She seems like a very nice lady. She probably has some pet penguins. And igloos. Not to mention that she is the only one of the four with any leadership experience. She is the longtime mayor of Wasilla Alaska and a runner up in the Miss Alaska pageant. She is a hunter so she will be able to carry out the duty of the VP requiring her to shoot her friends. And if anyone doubts her imagination and creativity, just look at the names of her kids (Trig? Isn't that a math class?). It was a great choice because I think that with this choice McCain is a certainty to win Alaska (Al Gore couldn't even carry his home state when he was running for president). Good job John, and good luck.

No kidding. All McCain is trying to do is steal headlines away from Obama. There is absolutely no depth to his choice. Prior to the meeting they all had before this was announced, he'd only even met the woman ONCE. I don't like her one bit. (and her kids' names do sound like a dog sled team! Bravo, Tim)

Hair

This has become the age-old question...Why do men hate short hair on women? I've been thinking about this a lot because my current style, an angled bob, requires a bunch of fussing every morning to get it to do anything. My favorite haircut of all time, as far as ease of care, was my pixie cut. I loved that I could wash it, gel it, and be done. No blow drying or flattening or curling. Just gel and go. Very sporty. I thought it looked cute. My husband has another opinion. The longer the better is his motto. Thing is, my hair becomes an unruly, tangled, nappy mop when it gets long. If I had all the time in the world and Jennifer Aniston's budget, I'd be more than happy to grow it long and have others style it every day. In real life, I guess I'd rather go for comfort and convenience. And if you ask me, I think the pixie is dang cute. I suspect heterosexual men aren't hot on short hair, in general, because it's too much like their own hair. No matter how much jewel

Looking Forward

I just discovered this blog was still around (and miraculously, I remembered the password). I think I might kick the tires and take it out for a spin.  Our world has been in lockdown for a year, suffering a pandemic that has killed nearly 550,000 in the United States and 2.7 million globally. We've worn masks, maintained physical distance of at least 6 feet from others, washed and sanitized our hands, worked and schooled from home, dealt with (of all things) a toilet paper shortage, and given up most of our favorite activities (restaurant dining, movie theaters, live performances, family gatherings, and so on). We've endured people's stupidity, ignorance, racism, xenophobia, selfishness, indifference. We've also celebrated the "essential worker," those who put their lives at risk to make ours safer: grocery store employees, delivery drivers, healthcare professionals, educators ... all those whose jobs help ensure continuity of our country's infrastructure
