It will surprise no one: I'm granola.

Wanna kill a few minutes and do something mindless and admittedly pointless?

Take a quiz.

I personally think this assessment of me is way off. In fact I take offense -- I am a fabulous cook. And low maintenance? Are you kidding??

You Are Cereal

Playful and lighthearted, breakfast is likely your favorite meal of the day.

(In fact, you're probably the type who sneaks cereal as a midnight snack.)

Your culinary skills are probably a bit lacking... and you are a sucker for junk food.

Some people accuse you of eating like a kid, but you prefer to think of yourself as low maintenance.

I am toast. (And somehow, I don't feel comfortable making that statement!) Accordingly, I am:

Old fashioned and a bit of a homebody, you totally go for comfort food. You're the type who loves to cook for friends, and they love you for it. You truly know what tastes good, and you can often pick out the best dish at a restaurant. You don't fall for food trends. You stick with what's been food for a long time!

I am a Danish.
Indulgent and a bit greedy, you eat whatever you feel like eating... nutrition be damned.
You have a total sweet tooth, and you pretty much give into it whenever you feel like it.
While it treating yourself is nice occasionally, try eating a vegetable every once and a while.
Lay off the donuts and muffins, unless you want to be sporting a "muffin top" of your own!

And my owner is eggs:
Traditional and totally grown up, you truly believe that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
You don't skimp on nutrition or quality. You're likely to take the time to make yourself a decent meal each morning.
You're a great cook, even if you aren't a showy one. You can make a feast out of simple ingredients.
The food you eat may be basic, but you prefer to think of it as classic.
Chilly Dog.
(PS, they are totally wrong about him; he does not make a feast out of simple ingredients).

I am toast too!! And I didn't even choose toast as my bread/danish of choice in the morning. What are they tryin' to pull here? I also don't agree with the statement that I love to cook for friends. I don't mind making something good every now and then but let there be no mistaking that Brett is the chef in this duo.

In memoriam...

I remember the first time I heard the name "Les Anderson." A bunch of Wichita State University communication majors were sitting around on campus, talking about classes they planned to take. Several people warned me: watch out for Les Anderson. He was tough. He had a murderous grading scale. It was nearly impossible to get an A. They weren't kidding. But he wasn't tough just to be a tyrant. From his teaching sprang a fleet of incredible, successful journalists, writers, editors, broadcasters, public relations experts, advertisers, non-profit professionals...I could go on and on. Most importantly, he created a legion of people who wanted to make a difference in the world. The greatest gift Les gave to them all? He believed in them, cared about them for their own personal stories as well as the stories they told for class assignments or in the pages of his hometown newspaper. Les was my teacher. My boss. My mentor. My conscience. My champion. My friend. When I started c...

Is it OK to own a Canadian?

In her radio show, Dr Laura Schlesinger said that, as an observant Orthodox Jew, homosexuality is an abomination according to Leviticus 18:22, and cannot be condoned under any circumstance. The following response is an open letter to Dr. Laura, written by a U.S. resident, and posted on the Internet. It's funny, as well as informative: Dear Dr. Laura: Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination ... End of debate. I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some other elements of God's Laws and how to follow them. 1. Leviticus 25:44 states that I may possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexic...
