Winner


I don't always agree with People magazine. Which is probably a good thing, since the rag's hardly a bastion of journalistic excellence.

But they got one thing right this year.

George Clooney is the 2006 Sexiest Man Alive.

Without a doubt. Hands down. Bravo. Yeah, baby. And it's the second time he's earned this title. And I do mean EARNED.

Whether it's the way his eyes crinkle at the corners when he smiles, or the strong set of his jaw, or the "run-your-fingers-through-it" beckoning of his salt-and-pepper hair...

George is just plain yummy.

Too bad he's probably a womanizing, two-timing, unable-to-commit, substance-abusing pig. Can't have it all, I guess.

*plugging ears and going "la la la"* I refuse to believe that George is a druggie or a pig or a two-timer. I do believe he's a womanizer, but such a suave, charming one that somehow it's alright. He is v. yummy.... I know you can't believe everything you read or everything that people say but from what I've read, people who know him (including Julia Roberts whom I totally admire and believe) say he's just this wonderful person. He would be a fascinating person to meet.

But yes - Bravo, People, for your number one choice.

In memoriam...

I remember the first time I heard the name "Les Anderson." A bunch of Wichita State University communication majors were sitting around on campus, talking about classes they planned to take. Several people warned me: watch out for Les Anderson. He was tough. He had a murderous grading scale. It was nearly impossible to get an A. They weren't kidding. But he wasn't tough just to be a tyrant. Is it OK to own a Canadian?

In her radio show, Dr Laura Schlesinger said that, as an observant Orthodox Jew, homosexuality is an abomination according to Leviticus 18:22, and cannot be condoned under any circumstance. The following response is an open letter to Dr. Laura, written by a U.S. resident, and posted on the Internet.
